Blames Mrs. Snyder for Her Hus
band’s Downfall.
Mrs. Henry Sudd Gray, whose hus
band was ou trial in f/ong Island City
for the murder of Albert Snyder, in
an interview with the Newark KveJi
itig News said she was relieved by her
husband’s confession on the witness
stand and continued “Judd has purs
ed his soul: that gives m<* my great
seduce.
"Oh, this is all a nightmare.' she
sighed as she sought to hold back
of the tears that have tilled
to her cheeks. “But .Judd's straight
forward and manly confession showed
that he is repentant and proved him 1
to be tlie man in whom I had implicit t
faith. His insistence upon telling the
truth revealed his true character and
convinced me that his trnit of pro
found sympathy with everybody en
snared him in the clutches „f the
wretch of a woman responsible lor his
downfall.
"This Snyder woman has said Judd

Section 1. That each person em
ployed in mixing and dispensing
drinks, and serving ice cream at soda
fountains in the City of Concord,
shall hereafter be required to hare a
med : eal certificate given by the Coun
ty Health Officer or other reputable
physician, certifying that said em
ployee is not affected with tuberetdo
sis in u coni mu men ble state, or any
venereal disease, and is
not a’ typhoid carrier.
Sjection 2. That each certificate is
sued shall be good for a period of six
months from date, of issue, and shall
be exhibited to the County Health
Officer on request. '
Section 3. Every person violating
any.provisions of.this ordinance shall
upon conviction be fined Twenty Dol
lars or imprisoned thirty days.
Section 4. This ordinance shall go
into effect on May Ist, 1027.
Be it Further Ordained:
That ordinance 255. on page 238
of the Revised Cade of the City , of
Concord, be and the same is hereby
amended by adding at the end of par
agraph 1 of said ordinance, the fol

“I have done everything possible in
a financial way for Judd. It will mean

this morning at 11 o’clock at St.
Mathews Reformed church here with

The main business of the day was
that of electing new offieem and
hearing three .reports.
The new offfc-ers elected were,
Rev. H. A. Pespermnn, president, of
Greensboro; -Elder Clarence (Yawn
Newton, vice president; Rev. H. C.
KeTerroe.vcr. Lincoln ton, correspond
ing secretary; Rev- IV. R. Shaffer,
reading clerk. Rev. J. C., l>eonard
was elected state clerk for the eighth
consecutive term of five years each.
Dr. Ixmgnker preached the open- !
ing sermon and took as his text. "Go
Forward.” This text was for the
church mainly. He showed that God
was always back of His church and

if only rely upon God.
Edgar Whitener, president of flit
board of trustees of Catawba col,

the college. The college is progressing
rapidly since its removal to Salis
bury., both in number of students
