This June we have seen an uprecedented number of mar riages. I have had more marria ges at The Little Church On The Lane during this June than in any month of my ministry. Each of these has been preceded by my usual pre-marriage conference in which I have explained the seven adjustments necessary for a happy marriage. For the benefit of those young married couples who have not had a pre-marriage conference, I am devoting the next seven daily columns of THE EVERDAY COUNSELOR to these necessary adjustments. The first of these is the Physi cal Adjustment. It is physical love and physical attraction which draws a young man and a young woman together in mar- The ancient greeks had a special word for this form of love, “eros.” We find it in the English word, “erotic.” The Bible refers to this in the verse which is a part of most marriage ceremonies, “For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.” This is symbo lized in the physical union of mar riage. The ancient Greeks had a special word for this form of love, “eros.” We find it in the English word, in the verse which is a part of and propagating the race. The physical union in marriage has a two- fold purpose. The first is the mutual expression of hus band and wife of love and af fection. It should be a mutually happy and satisfying experience. The second is for the purpose of having children, rearing a family and propagating the race. It is highly necessary that both husband and wife understand that this is to be a mutually sat isfying experience, not simply one in which the wife submits to her husband’s advances as a part of her conjugal duty. Many A promising marriage has been wrecked or soured the first week because of lack of understanding of this. Every couple entering marriage 2:00 p. m. Everybody is cordially invited to attend and bring flow ers to put on the graves. The farmers in this section are very much disappointed because of the low price of beans. It is hoped, however, that the price may soon go up. Kay, Rita, Reggie and Eugenia, children of Mr. and Mis. Parker M. Dickson, had their tonsils re moved at the Ashe Memorial hospital at Jefferson, last Thurs day. The children all came home Friday and are doing well. A revival meeting will begin at Trinity Methodist church Sat urday night, the 26th., at 8:00 p. m. The preaching will be done by Rev. Mr. Chapel who serv.d several years ago on the War rensville charge. Rev. Chap: 1 lias the name of being a very able preacher and revivalist. Everyone of all denominations is cordially invited to attend. The meeting is supposed to last about ten days. The road forces have done some constructive work throughout this section by cleaning old the ditch lines and mowing off shrub bery along the roadside. cawmtiyf you can get your HEW UNDERWOOD TYPEWRITER HOW! IB should either consult an under standing physician concerning this, or read one of the many good books now available which explains this adjustment. The book I use in my pre-marriage conferences is, “Harmony In Mar riage,” by Wood (Roundtable Press). The proper understanding of the physical adjustment, opens way for the six other adjust ments necessary to a happy mar riage. The first and the last, the Spiritual Adjustment, are per haps the most important. If these are made, the others will be much easier. REVIVAL IS NOW UNDERWAY AT ORION A revival is now underway at the Orion Baptist church with ser vices being held each evening at eight o’clock. Rev. W. E. Denney, assisted by the pastor, Rev. E. Z.
