Lives there the man who has not sighed for leisure? And livps there the man, who, in his more sober moment, has not been honestly glad that he must work? Human nature, which sweetens under toil, sours in leisure. And it is by no means sure that the fall fronv innocence which first brought work into the world, "and all our woes" was not bring ing salvation disguised as labor. Faithfulness will, dignify and beautify even drudgery: no matter what the work is, provided that it is honest, if it is well, it commands our infinite respect. Besides, if we did not all have to work so hard to keep alive, the jails woul have standing room only. Boston Transcript.
