Leo M. Frank Sentenced
To Life Imprison
Atlanta, Ga., June 21. Leo M.
Frank today began serving a life
sentence at the Gergia prison farm
for the murder of Mary Phagan,
the 14-year-old employe of .the
pencil factory, of which he was
superintendent. His hurried sec
ret trip by train and automobile
from the Atlanta jail to Milledge
ville was preceded by a few hours
the issuance of a long - statement
by Governor Slaton giving his
reasons for commuting the death
sentence, which was to have be?n
executed tomorrow, to life imprisonment.
Death of Little Nancy Dixon.
The death of little Nancy Dixon
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
Dixon, was indeed sad. Just a
few days before Mrs. J. W. Dix
on left her home in Danville and
came to Roxboro where she visit
ed friends going from . here to
her old home in Leasburg, where
the little girl was taken sick and strapping young bucks of the col
died on Wednesday night. Mr. ored race here who were living in

who attended services at the
Methodist church were doubly
repaid, as Miss Corrie Dodson
sang a most beautiful solo. She
has a voice of rare culture, full
and sweet and the audience was
charmed with her splendid sing
ing. .
