jtcr tell about, we are going to
vlenture upon our first special
edition comprising the financial,
commercial nd agricultural in -t6rest
of Person County. It Has
been our desire for some time to
give to the readers of our paper
a- creditable illustrated paper
containing story matter pertain
ing to the many natural advan
tages and resources which we
have, however, we realized that
it would require many pages to
dp. so withall possible dispatch
and success, and our medium for
setting type previous to this has
been by hand, therefore, the
problem was a little more than
we could solve.
The special issue that we will
print will contain several stories
unraveling the many historical
and commercial statistics of Per
son County and Roxboro, all of
which will be published under
their respective caption. And
while the county stories will take
precedence, we will not forget
by ' any means that Roxboro is
the accessible trading and dis
tributing; point for every farmer
living within our trading , teni-
Itory, and every inch of the story
matter in this special edition will
trend that way. Five thousand
copies of our special edition
will be printed and mailed out
by us to people residing in this
and adjoining counties, however
many copies will go out broad
cast over several states, and five
hundred copies will be given to
the Norfolk and Western Kail
way for distribution in the North
and Middlewestern States, from
where comes many farmers to
this and other Southern sections
to locate.
AN ADVERTISING MEDIUM
Due to the fact that extra cop
ies will be printed and mailed
out bv us. the medium is a most
attractive one for the local busi-j o
ness houses and they will 'be call
ed on and the plan explained in
every detail. We will put into
every home in this territory one
of The Courier's Special Editions.
Display advertising space will be
sold at a fixed price per inch,
however, to make the paper ful
ly worth while, each advertiser
will be given free of charge a
good sketch compiled from the
good thought an4 substantial
facts taken f rdn the growth of
the respective business. ,
A SPECIALIST
To give each article, whether
concerning community or indus
trial development, the proper
preponderence over other articles
that have been published in the
Courier from time to time here
tofore, we . have employed the
services of a specialist, one who
has had several years experience
in. the business, and will no doubt
in his perusal of this community
find material for a story to ex
ceed far beyond that discovered
in many other sections. The
gentleman in question will call
m each business man in town'to
to explain the plan in. full and
any kindness extended him. will
I take this method to announce to the public
I have taken charge of the blacksmith de
partment of W. J. Pettigrew'iShopi al4 will
shoe your horse as cheap as ANYONE. ,
Bring me your work and same will be
appreciated.
