"We regret to have to start the New ;SeaV with apoligies, but we will have ISta do: so today. We have been rear- iiranging'ur officce and getting our typesetting machine in operation, the i tresmlt that we are unable to get out i"; -this week with' a full size paper. But ilpe are glad to say we have everry ;? :thing in shape now and will promise V'rto give you the best paper in the fu ;;;:ture we have given you. We are go ing ' togive you more reading matter I -; and we hope matter which will be of " more interest to you, VOLUME THIRTY-FOUR. With this issue we begin volume .'thirtjAlf our of The Courier. For '-'5-; . !; ;'more than thirty years of this time ' ; we have been presiding over the des . tinies of this sheet, and while the .:-yway has often been rugged wedo not ' regret for a moment that we decided yj:-to cast our lot with the good people 'yi'' of Perrson county. During thislong : ; time we have found many tried and J!ft:faithful friends, friends who we ap-ttC-preciate more than gold, and while , 7 not a great load of the filthy lucre has stuck in our coffers, still, we have W:..l ' 'V managed t olive comfortably, and i'' -. best of all, happily. It shall be our aim to give to the , people of this section more, in the fu- - 7 , ture than in the past, and if we may .: be able to help some worthy, though ; j:- despondent one, to a better'way we shall consider ourselves, well paid for , our labors. We will not make any ; ' i more promis.es, having in a recent ';- issue promised to do better things, but if we fail kindly remember, it :. - was an error of the head and not of l the heart. We want to congratulate the Coun ty upon the selection of Mr. W C. Warren as County Demostrator. He ;''yV.is-a man in every sense of the word, 1 1 and best of all, a Person County man with no frills or notions foreign to t -our way of doing things. He was educated at the A. & M. College, thus being well fitted for the work to ' h f 1 , which he has been called. Our peo ple can, well afford to tie to him and give him every encouragement possi ble. He is your servant, paid by you and his one great aim is to be of ser vicce. Co-operate with him and lets show to the world what a great County we have. The annual meeting of the Person County Fair Association will be held in "a few days, and while we are not fortunate enough to hold any stock ' ill this association, we do not feel that it is out of place to say a. good word ior the work of the president and ?seccretary. We do not believe there :is a man in the county who would give the ssame amount of work to the . iair as has Mr. Joe H. Cerver, the president certainly not for the small ;.amount of money which he is Tpaid, ''v.V."- ''"while the secretary is oneof the 7 busiest nien to be found for about , ') ' :;sixty days before and after the fair. 'These men have made good, the ;::g;showing published proving this, and '1$fe?;if they :' will consent to a reelection , ' V ' - we think the Association would find ''A -M hard, to find two men better suited , i ' '-.it Iv.i' " ' '; ,i .' .
