A SURPRISE BIRTHDAY DINNER'
On Sunday, May 10th, at tfhe home 1
of W. W. Harris, being the only
son, we the children of Mrs. Ellen
Harris, gave Mama- a surprise birth
day dinner. We -are saw it was quite
a surprise for she didn't even think
of such a thing until about the last
family arrived. Early in the morn
ing her sister and husband came in
Ur. and Mrs. J. A. Painter, and
after awhile the children began (o
arrive with their husbands and
children, which were ' Mrs. C. M.
Oakley, husband and children; Mrs.
Bob Satterfield, husband and con;
Mrs. Willie Forbush, husband and
children; Mrs. Charlie L. Fouthee,
husband and children; Mrs. Nick
Frederick, husband and son. Mrs.
Tack Cash, husband and children did
not come, we knOw not why, but
We sure was sorry, for they missed
an enjoyable day that can never be
recalled.
We had with us four of .mama's
sisters and husbands, with one ab
sent. Others present with us -were
Mr. and Mrs. Painter, Mr. and Mrs.
J. W. Jackson, Mrs. Emily Jones
Mrs. Weldon Whitfield, Elder White
the Baiptist preacher of Roxboro,
and I'm sure he enjoyed the occas
ion. Just before the noon hour we
arranged a long table in the shade
where we spread a bountiful din
ner, after which we presented the
presents, which were many and use
ful.
May God bless co-h one present
and spare Mama many more such
birthdays is our wish and sincere
hope. God bless the family circle
and draw them closer together is
