Through the life of this con test, the city of High Point will le known as District Xo. i, while all the territory lying outside of the city will be known as District No. 2, as stated above. The con test formally opens with the an nouncement today and will con tinue until April 15th. There is but one restriction, and that is all babies entering the race shall not be over five years of age and of white parentage. A coupon appears in these columns today and will continue to appear from day to day. It is good for 25 votes. You may use it to nom inate your favorite baby if you desire and when jt is received at this pffice -the .baby's name will be included in thel ist of the dis trict in which it may reside. Pro vided, the nane is received on or before March aoth the baby will be given the bonus of 1000 votes as well as credit for whatever coupon ballots may be cast for it. We ask absolutely nothing of you save to clip these coupons from the paper and nominate a baby. If you haven't one of your own, remember that little boy or girl w ho is the idol of your neigh bor. The names of the nominees will appear shortly, so you should lose no time in sending in yours. And then, besides, there are4hose gold rings. The voting will be gin with the announcement of the names. This contest is being conducted by the Joyce Syndicate, of Chicago, of which Mr. J. F. Joyce is the gen eral manager. The Knterprise counts itself fortunate in that Mr. Joyce has come on himself to take personal charge of this contest. The Joyce Syndicate is a firm of established reputation. They have a splen did system and their absolute fairness in j,hc conduct of their contests has given them first call with all of the reputable news paper publishers of the country. Successful contests from coast to coast are their best testimon ials. The syndicate has no par ticular interest in any baby. They know none. The entire contest is under their direction and will be decided on the last evening by prominent . judges who will be selected from' city and country. No person who is in any way connected with the Knterprise will be permitted to enter his or her baby. Immedi ately after the close of the con test, the entire set of books will be thrown open to the public in spection. John Lindsay and Bob Jones returned today from the Madi Cras Celebration at New Orleans. DEATH OF MRS. YATES. iMrs. S. C. Yates died late Saturday night at her home on Ward street, after a short illness, wi h pneumonia. Deceased was 38 years of age. Tlve funeral was conducted this morning at the residence by Rev. Bailey added to the excitement and to the extra ordinary episodes surrounding the adjournment of the Sixty first Congress today by resigning his office as senator from the state of Texas, and a few hours later withdrawing his resigna tion. Angered by the attitude of his Democratic colleagues in favor ing the resolution approving the new constitution of Arizona, to whose radical features Mr. Bailey has declared his undying opposition, he wrote his resigna tion and took it t,. the ,ee President with the request that lie announce u to the senate.
