MELON CROP IN THE EAST THE FINEST EVER KNOWN. o Raleigh, Aug. i North Caro lina this yaer, according to all rc orts, has a line watermelon crop, especially in the eastern part o f si:ite Cantaloupes are also very line and there has been a lan.e northern movement from this state. Senator V. S. Cobb of Robeson county, the man wh mtroduced the farm life school 1 ill in the last legislature an whose effective work made po- ii!c its enactment, is said to be probably the largest melon erower in this state. Some days ago Senator Cobb had shipped a total of 31 cars of melons to the northern markets and he expects to ship more than too cars of melons of his own growth this year. The melons are bringing nice rices. As a sample of the kind of melons he grows. Senator Cobb sent to Governor Kitchin a niel on last week which weighed more than y pounds. "It was one of the best and largest mel ons I ever saw," remarked Gov ernor Kitchin. Kit. Airy ON THEBORDER. W hue Sulphur Springs. .) , ... . ..,1. ... . ..s 1 , . .111 V I .
