tariff law upen various grounds, one
being tho clerical errors and omis
sions in the enrollment of
the bill
with the conference committee
changes. Concerning these public
tions. Secretary Windotn said this
morning that be knew nothing officially
about tbe protests against the legality of
the McKinley tariff bill. "I do not,'
he said, ''regard it as the province of
an executive offioer to question the
constitutionality of tbe acts of Con
gress. It is for him to enforce the law
as he finds it, and not to determine
questions affecting its legality.
