Fx Senator Blair expects to leave for China, w here he will represent the Govern ment us Minister, in about a month or six week. He will take his law books with him to brush up his knowledge o( law and be ready on his return to re-enter the practice of his profession. P.epresenta n ve Brvckinridue, of Ken tucky, though one of ine most eloquent orators in Congress, uses fewer gestures than any other speaker there. When addressing the House he usually stands in the middle of au aisle nnd rests his hands ou two desks. He is a model ol courtesy in debate. E.VKKnR William's reform of the Ger man language has taken strong hold in the army. "Strategic" isgi ving place to "Kriegs fueehruiig," "Taktik" to "Gelechtsfueeh rung," "Attacke" to "Sturm" and "Avail cirem'' to "Vorgehcn." Theie are nonew developments in the Italian affair. The reviving interest taken in it on account of the alleged intention ou the part of the Italian Government to signally Utsplny its resentment by ceasing tn have any further diplomatic intercourse with the United Stales unless this Government shall respond to the communication ot Premier Rudiui within such n period as the Italian Ministry is said to consider as the utiuos: limit which it can allow the American government for the making of its answer, has lapsed into a dis position to quietly await what the next tw o or three days brings forth. There are very tew persons who believe that anything startling will occur, and high officials are certainly incredulous as respects Italy's reporta 1 purpos to take such a step as that of ordering .Minister Porter from Rome. Even shou'd such an unusual and extra ordinary movement be made, contrary to all expectations, it is said that it would probably not result iu actual wnr, but only in an al most complete severence of nil relations be tween the two countries. It is regarded, how ever, as almost certain that it would result in a feeling of indignation in this country, which would seriously prej mi ice the prospects of favorable action for mis country ou (he Italian suggestions for reparation nnd indem nity. The diplomatists though, would receive the news of t he severance ol diplomatic relation with profound regret, for the reason that it would for along time he a cause of vexation an I annoyance and would call tor the i xer cise of extreme discretion nnd fact in a great many matters of comparatively trilling ini po rtance. Were the intercourse between the two countries once sundered by resentment, it would render a reconciliation very difficult, nun ouiy to ue secureu oy inc. cumuer.sonie good offices of some intermediary, snd might result, ns a similar breach several years ago between Great Britain and Venzuela resulted in the official ignoring by ench country of the factthat the other existed, through n relutance onthepaitof either to make advances after Ibe animoiity engendered had vanished. But it is thought certain that these compli cations will not occur and that the two coun tries will again be on harmonious terms with out anything alarming having taken place. jjWNKENtfESS Liquor Habit. otmiifES GOLDEN SPECIFIC It caD f? triven In coffee, tea. or in article! of food, without tne knowledc of patient It Deceaaary ; it is absolutely harmless anrt will effect a perma nent and apee'dy cure, whether the patient la a moderate drinker or an alcoholic wreck.
