Grand Preparations Great Pre miums Many and Unusual Special Attractions Every body Should Attend. Ttie State Fair begins next week anel judging from tile extensive preparations that have been made it will be among the greatest, if not the very greatest event of the kind that has ever ocenrred there. The officers, comprising Presi dent, ami vice-Presidents, Secretaries and assistants, Marshals and assistants. Exe cutive committee and board of Lady Managers are composed of over 1.50 prominent and goo 1 workers from every section of the State. The premium list is large and covers a wide range. There are 724 liberal jire niiums for every species of field and garden crops, horses, cattle, sheep, poul try, pantry supplies, manufactures, mer cantile displays, ladies work, agricultural implements, machinery, curios and freaks. The race premiums are just as liberal; they alone aggregate 11,700. There will no doubt be a very tine and large exhibit along all the regular lines. In addition to these there will be 11 any special attractions. One exhibit that should be seeu by every one is a very handsome model of the cruiser Raleigh, the superb and handsome United States gunboat which is nameel for the capital of this State. It is one of the handsomest vessels ever bu-lt, and the model shows all the guns anel other particulars of the Ship. It will be of interest to all North Caro- mians. The Executive committee of North Carolina's exhibit for the World's Fair are expected to elisplay so much of that exhibit as shall lie ready at the opening of the Fair. Among the unique anel attractive features of the Fair will be the exhibit of A. Dughi, the Italian bird fancier and dealc." in pretty pet animals. This exhibit, a show in itself will be in the regular fair building, free to every body. A prominent young North Carolina artist and portrait painter will make a special exhibit of his works at the Fair, and during the week he will have an art sale of his pictures, which are justly re nowneel for happy conception and meritorious execution. This sale wili be the first of the kind ever held in the State and will be a 'grand opportunity for admirers and connoisseurs of high art. This pleasing feature will at all hours be open and free to every body who goes into the Fair grounds. A great and unusual specialty will be Pawnee Bill's Wild "West Indian Museum anel Encampment. Never before has North Carolina licen visited by any thing of the kind and there is no telling when such an opportunity will occur again. It will probably attract more attention and make more ta": than any other feature. A portion of the show consists of a grand Mexican Hippodrome. It will introduce the' most dang and skillful horsemen and champion rough riders in the World in the races, sports and games of Mexico. There will be faithful rep resentations of a bull fight, Spanish chariot races, etc. In all there will be exhibited twenty Mexicans, fifty Indians twenty cow-girls, twenty cow-boys, and twenty scouts, guides and trappers. Besides the Indian encampment there will be an Indian museum: it consists of an entire Indian "llage where may be seen squaws at their bead work, making mocassins sewing wampum, ta-in;ng4hides, &c, end the braves in counc" smolr'ng the peace pipe or engaged : 1 other occupations of their race. There also will be the pappooses strapped to a board, according to Indian custom- A picked band of cow-boys, the most scientific lasso throwers anel broncho ride.s, will at each performance lasso rid b-and cattle, ride bucking brouchos, pick up coin from the ground and mount anel dismount while their horses are run ning at full speed. The famous Mountain Meadow Mas- sace will be acted out. As a l'fe-like portrait of savage modes it is said to have no coual.
