Wasiiinoton, December 7 In Pepub liran circles it is said that Pepresenta live Linney (Republican), of North Car olina, who was re-elected to the Fifty sixth Congress, will in all probability be made chairman of one of the Klections Committees. His committee would with out doubt be given any contests coming from his State and would thus be placed in the attitude now atsumed by General Walker, of the Ninth Virginia. There is no room for doubt that the troubles which existed in North Carolina a', the tituo of the election will be Usui a argument in favor of the contestants no matter how little teal justice thero may be iu the claim In any particular cae. But it is by no means a foregone conclu sion that a majority of the members will be willing to seal the contestants. Representative Linney was asked if there was any likelihood of an attempt being made to have Congress investigate the race troubles in North Carolina He said he had no knowledge of auy definite plans, although there had been cons:der ble discussion among sonic of the mem bers as to how an investigation could I e brought about.
