Hinohara, a Japanese preach er of .the Methodist church who has been taking a post graduate course in Trinity College at Durham spoke at the Methodist church Sunday night under the auspices of the EpWorth League. The talk was - very interesting and instructive ami as the speaker has been here before he has made quite a num ber of friends here. Tin address was on the religion, edu cational and Social life of Japan. , He aid that the empire was taking on new ideas all the time and that while reli gious progress was slow there , was no reason to bo discouraged. The Japa nese youth are very anxious for. educa tion and will make great sacrifice to ob tain one. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Foreman went to Newport Saturday to visit relatives and also to attend the Quarterly Confer ence. Mrs! Elizabeth Lee of Morehead City, who has been the guest of Mrs. J. R. Campen this week. Mr. B, B. Small made a flying trip to New Bern last week. The changable weather is causing much sickness in this section. It seems as if the atmosphere is completely filled with the germs of diptheria throughout this village; at least it is the theory of the physicians. - Leighton, the infant son of Mr and Mrs. John Dickinson, died Jan. 29, 1906, Interment was at the family burial ground at Russell's Creek. On tho morning of; February 1st, 1906 the angel of death claimed from their bright home, little Raymond, the seven month old son of Rev. and Mrs. J. R. Jinnett.
