Capt and Mrs S E Ewell and little son, Paul, of Mobile, Ala., are here on a visit to their old home. Mr. Carl Parker, formerly of Halifax and Miss Ida Glover of Cove, were married in Trenton on Sunday Dec 30th It was a great surprise to their many friends as it was so unexpected. Mr K M Harris of Ft. Barnwell is spending a few days in Coe. The last few days have been full of happv social events, but the most enjoyable of all was the party at the academy on New Year's night The committee had arranged a special pro gram that seemed to delight everyone present The ball room was artistical ly decorated in the holiday colors, green and red. The floor was waxed and nectar drinks were served, and about forty couples tripped the light fantas tic toe until long after midnight. The dancers all seemed full of brightness, and good cheer and was greatly enjoyed by the young society set A special feature was the "old Virginia reel," just at midnight. Miss Eva Flowers of Trenton, is spending the week with Mr and Mrs W T McCoy, who are noted for their hos pitality and gift at entertaining. : Among the most admired dancers at the ball on New Year's night were Misses Julia and Annie Simmons of Wintergreen. Wimsatt, Pres, an J owner of the Goldaboro Lumber Co. is down to Dover, on his annual visit the fact that he only makes a visit here once a year, ' proves that in the persona of Mesaers D. W, Richardson, general manager, and Mr. W. B. H. Blandford. Sect'y and Truas, ha has gentlemen, who are unexcelled in their ability in managing a lumber business. Mrs Parmela Hawkins age about 85 died Christmas eve and was buried. Christmas day. Mr. W W. Ormond, Jr. lost his little child on Christmas eve and it was buried Christmas day at the sanie place and time of Mrs Hawkins. Miss Lala Rhem a young lady age i bout 22. died Sunday p. m. of consump tion and was buried Tuesday a. m. We extend condolence to the parents and loved ones of the above mentioned. Whatever of pleasure has been afforded in the mirth provoking cartoons the "Buster" of the stage has got them skinned a mile.
