Nancy Jane Morris, a colored woman whose home is near Maysville, while enroute to this city on the Atlantic Coast Line train was painfully injured yesterday morning when she was struck by a missile thrown by a colored boy. The affair occurred near Ravens wood, a small station between Mays ville, and Polloksville, at a time when the train was going at a comparatively slow speed. There were two colored boys near the track and one of these threw the missile which caused the havoc. Engineer Howard witnessed the affair and at once brought the train to a stop and he and conductor D. J. George alighted from the train and went in pursuit of the miscreants. One of the boys, Arthur Blarkledge, was caught carried back to the train, brought to this city and turned over to the police. The woman had several cuts on her face and one of her eyes was injured. Medical attention was rendered her as soon as the train reached the city and the physician who dressed her wounds staled yesterday afternoon that he did not think they were serious and that there was very little danger of her losing the ;ye which was inujred. Blackledgc told the police that he and another boy were throwing rocks at a telephone pole and had no inten tion of striking the train. However, the offense is a serious cne and he will be held until his companion can be apprehended. This is not the first time that this train has been "rocked" and the railway people arc deter mined to prosecute the offenders tothc full extent of the law, making an ex ample of them for others who might pursue their tactics.
