Following delightful banquet in the reception rooms of the Centenary Methodist church last night, tendered by the New Bern cham ber of commerce, which formally opened the convention, the second day's session of the North Carolina division. United Daughters of the Confederacy, got under way this morning with a business session, followed in the afternoon by a histo rian 's conference and an automobile rid. about the city and environs. The session was presided over by Mrs. Felix Harvey, of Kinston. president of the division. A number of important matters, including reports of committees were disposed of, following which the delegates were the guests of the Wom an's Club at a delightful luncheon. The luncheon was more .in the nature of a love feast, and was informal. This afternoon at o'clock, Miss Lowry Bhuford, of Gastonia,, presided at the historian's conference, v From 2:30 to 4:30 another business session was held, followed by the trip about the city. Both of the business sessions were routine in character. The evening was designated as chil dren's evening, and a pleasing program was presented at the high school audito rium. This entire program was conduct ed by the children themselves, the Chil dren of the Confederacy taking a promi nent part. A fitting climax of the day was the reception tendered the Daughters by the members of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Josephus Daniels and Mrs. Thomas W. Bickett were the guests of honor. The sessions tomorrow will be replete with interest. They will begin at 5 o'clock in the morning and will last until lute in the afternoon, winding up with a boat ride down the Neuse river. A me morial service will be held at noon by Mrs. T. A. Woodard, chaplain, followed by the calling of the roll of the departed. Luncheon will be served at the parish house. The election of officers will' take place in the early afternoon. The delegates express themselves as very much pleased with their entertain ment in New Bern. Hundreds of them have been taken into private homes. Many small social features for individual guests not on the programs, are adding much to the enjoyment of the occasion.
