The presi dent, Mrs. Abernethy, opened the meet ing with prayer, which was fallowed by the Bible study in Mark by Mrs. Patter son. The minntes of the last meeting were read by Miss Octavia Thomas. A report for the year was also read by the secretary, the class having been organ ised one year ago. The report showed ttonip splendid work done by the class. Mrs. Rob Armstrong was appointed a captain to take new members. Miss Tim Sloan was appointed to take charge of j the Sunbeams. The purchasing commit tee was instructed to add some more piece. to the loan chest. The following' committees were appointed: Flower, Mrs. Boor.er and May (loniffer and Kay Sherrill from the Sunbeam ; visiting committee, Mrs. A. B. Boozer and MJs Etta Jenkins; program, Mrs. I. A. Thomas and Mrs. Patterson; refresh ments, Mrs. Sam Williams and Mrs. KV Fraley. Miss Norfleet, chairman of the program committee, announced the fol lowing program: Song, "Jesus, Tender Sheperd," by little Misses May and Vir ginia Cloniger, Leola Fraley and Mary Thomas. A letter from Mrs. R. 1. Bed in -ger, of Africa, which had just been re-! ceived, was read by Mrs. Patterson. Reading, "The Sign," by Mrs. Walter Abernnthy. Vocal ijuet, "The Isle of the Palace," by Miss Tim Sloan and Miss (ieorgia Cat hey. Paper, "Sin Bearers of Paper, " by Mrs. Rob Arm strong. After the program Miss Etta Jenkins and Miss Tim Sloan served de-; lightful refreshments. Mr. H. W. Fryling entered the Char lotte Sanatorium Wednesday to undergo an operation. Miss Georgia Cat hey and Mfss Etta Jenkins were shoppers in Gastonia Wed nesday. Mrs. Robinson Flowers and Mrs. Rolin Sides were Gastonia visitors Wednesday. Tho closing exercises of the school will begin Friday evening at which time i the fifth, sixth and seventh grades will give a play, "Mother Wins," A drama- j tization of "Hansel and Gretcl" will be! given by the third and fourth graflcs and "The Pied Piper" wilf be dramatised' by the first and second grades. 8nturday afternoon at 6 o'clock the out-door exercises will be' -given on the j green at the big spring. Mr. Reeves was shot'finr times, twice in the lung, once in the abdomen, and nce in the shoulder.
