June 18 the junior cooking class entertained their mothers Tuesday afternoon on the green by the Willora. A table was placed un der the large oak. The centerpiece was a large basket of nasturtiums. After all the guests were received by the little hostesses they were served delicious chicken salad, pineapple and pimento sandwiches, potato chips, wafers and iced tea. Those serving were: Rosactta Sur ber, Pauline and Puola Kraley, Leonora Patterson, Kay and Elcuor Shcrrill, and Bee Rumgarner. Miss Elenor Sloan is spending several days in Gastoniu with Miss Elizabeth Norfleet at the Trenton community house. Miss Tim Sloan left Wednesday for Salisbury to attend a conference of com munity workers. Messrs. J. H. Sills and John C. Itankin were Gastouia visitors Friday evening. Mrs. Lou Goldsinyth and Miss Etta Jenkins received a message Saturday morning of the death of their sister, Mrs. Henvner, of Lawndale. Miss Leonora Patterson si-nt Friday in Ufistonia with Misses Bessie Caldwell and Virginia Wilson. Mrs. (J. V. Patterson and daughter, Leonora, were guests of Mrs. P. P. Mur phy, of Lowell Thursday. Mrs. Robie Sides was a shopper in Gastoniu Wednesday. Messrs. W. E. Armstrong and Guss Flowers were business visitors in Gas toniu Wednesday. Mrs. Jake Payseur has been quite sick for several days. Leonnrd Murry, a colored boy from Gastouia, was drowned in the river while swimming Tuesday. OLNEY LOCALS. (Correspondence of The Daily Gazette.) OLNEY, June 2o. Mrs. Wesley How ell, who lias been sick for some time, seems to be recovering slowly. Her friends hope for her a speedy restoration to health. Mrs. Campbell Dixon, ulio has been recovering nicely from an attack of ap pendicitis, suffered a slight relapse last week, but we are glad to say she is now improving again. On last Wednesday the younger set of the neighboi hood enjoyed a picnic at High Shoals given by Mrs. C. M. Faires and daughter, Miss Flowe, complimentary to Miss Nell Faires, of Greensboro. All; thy amusements of the park ami boat riding were much en joyed. Thirty seven were present, Mr. Faires taking the ! younger ones over in his rtuek, while' others went in automobiles. Supper was served and cool drinks enjoyed by all. All voted Mrs. Faires ami Miss Flowe I delightful hostesses. Assisting in enter tabling were Mrs. Wylio Hannah and Mr Pricp Capps. Mrs. Raymond ( '.
