Misa Marie Wilson has been visiting friends in Steel Creek. Mrs. Jane Thomas, of Sharon, is vis itinir relatives ia Bowling Green. Rev. and Mrs. H. D. Corkett and family returned Monday after spending two weeks in the mounatins of North Carolina . Mr. Davison Dulin and Miss Fannie Flanagan have been aitending several days at Bidgecrest, N, ('. Miss Wilma Adams will return to hot home Monday from Montreat, where she haa been spending ten days. Mr. W. C. Flanagan, of Columbia, is spending his vacation at home in Bowling Green. " : .. . Riddle. f SPEKSER MOUNTAIN (Correspondence pf he Daily Gazette.) SPENCER MOUNTAIN. Aug. 17 The most enjoyable social feature the village haa had for some time was the big reunion of .the Flowers' family, . which was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Flowers Saturday August 12th, celebrating the birthday anniver saries of three of the grand mothers of the Flowers family. Mrs. Franklin Flowers, . sixty -six. Mrs. Francis Flow ers, sixty -seven, Mrs. Adeline Flowers, venty-seven. ' The home of Mr. and Mrs. Flowers was an ideal location for such a gathering. The home is looted on the top of a hill surrounded by oak trees and overlooking South Fork River. Seats, a platform for the music, and a large talde 108 feet long were built on the lawn. Over two hundred childreu, grand children, great grand children, neiees, nephews, other relatives and friends were present to help these three happy mothers celebrate their birthdays. Many songs were sung in the morning and afternoon Mr? Frank Rhyne was the organist and Mr. Alonzo Rhvne led. the wosie. At 11 o'clock Rev. Mr. J. M. Ballard of Alexia, made an address and at soon the haukcts Ixtrno in riim.lnv what they contained. . The large tabled was laden with fried chicken, country ham, beef, salads, corn on the cob, to matoes, cakes of all kinds, custard, pies, pickles and egga. Iced lemonade was erved by Mrasrs. Roy Watts, Guss Flowers and Frank Rhyne. In tlie af ternoon pictures were made of the differ ent groups, some of them representing four generations. Among the ont of town people present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Led well, Misses Bertha and Vera Ledwell, and Mra. Stafford, Mrs. James Guin, Walter and Alice Guin of Me Adenville siwnt the week end with Mrs. Lou Goldsmyth. Mr. Burtin Hovis, Miss Anne Ifovis, Miss Elizabeth Aliernnthy and Mr. Boy den Abernathy went to Rox Sunday to see Mrs, Powell Shives. The many fricuds of Mrs. A. A. Hovis will be glad to know that she is recovering from a severe attack of llu. Mrs. Small and Mrs, Boozer were Gastonia shopier Monday. Mr. John C. Rankin motored to the mountains and spent the week end. Saturday the Myrtle Mill defeated the Spencer Mountain team on the Sencer Mountain diamond 7-5. A large crowd from Gastonia was here to see the game. Mr. and Mrs. Gerome Paysour and family of Cherryville, were in the vil lage Saturday to see Mr .and Mrs. Jake Paysour and attend the reunion.
