KING SHOOTS CLACK THREE TIMES AND RUNS (CotttiBUHliirtitRrHgl-l) upon Clack began to nurse his pistol and to bully and make little of King. Writhing under the smarts of wounded pride and the refusal of his erstwhile customer, whom he had credited for an unknown amount of fire water, to pay, King went off and by sPme means secured a pistol and returned to the church, where he immediate ly began a bombardment of the unsuspecting Clack. Three shots are said to have been fired in quick succession by the infuriated King, all of them taking effect in Clack's legs some where between the waist and the knees. It is said that there was one other person at least, and pos sibly more, in the roadster with the white man who shot at King as he bed. The shot bred by this man is said to have lodged in King's leg between the knee and hip. But King was evidently hot much hurt, since he continued his flight and has not been heard of. On the other hand Clack is said,to have been unable to travel after absorbing the three shots bred by King, and it is reported that he was later arrested.
