This, in turn, places an obligation upon the bank itself—that of cbeerfui and helpfu! service offered freely at all times to the responsible customer. And that is the attitude this bank takes—to help the ambitious business man in the safe conduct of his business affairs. Call and ask us to explain this more in detail. It will involve no obligation on your part whatsoever. We have a distinct banking service to offer, and want to tell you face to face just what it is. !- TTV^E MA770JVAA #AN% _ DANV!LLE. VA. Those who are able should hold their cotton. Those who are able should hold their cotton, and those who are bound to dispose of theirs especially need assistance. The State and Nattonai 'gov ernment shouid help those fei ]ows tide over the existing de pression. It is true the wearing apparei caiis for.tess cotton fabric than used to he. The women, for instance, now wear siik dresses (though abreviated) and siik hose. t want to ask why don't they wear more gingham dresses, fo^ the textiie industry is turning out beautifu! patterns and wouid be a credit to our womanhood if they wouid wear more of it, there by aiding in a materia) way the hard pressed cotton producers. Even the men want aii woot ciothing, why not part cotton r Aii this hcips to depress sates and output of tin- factories, there by affecting prices of the raw materia). Caswcfi county pro duces as good cotton as aimost anywhere. Many of our good citizens have eniisted in the pro duction of cotton, some bn a large scate. - The stump in price is simpiy depiorahie. Our humble advice is, hoid your cotton, friends, and we are sure you wit) be more highty remunerated. We wouid borrow necessary money, rather than sacrifice a year of expense and hard iabor. Remember it is a had wind that btows no good. Cotton, as weii as other products, reaches tow tide, then reverse td react) high tide prices. Of course suppiy and demand are the ttsua) governing factors. However, changes some times come without apparent ^cause. ftiiing pocketbooks. at the same time causing that broad smiie to adorn the faces of the filters of the soii. H FARM PROGRAM AVAIL ABLE IN PRINTED FORM Raleigh. N. (A, 'Nov, lo.-Thc program of diversified farming adopted this fall by the agricul tural extension service as its ideal of wurk for the coming months and years is now available in printed form The program was SHppiied!othopros§oft])c state in a condensed form (taring (ht<i tier. The program was given fur ther putdicity through the columns of intension Loot News, the ofhcia! puldication of the extension sei\ice. amt now it tiashecti printed in an ettitionot to.txxi copies t"r further distrihn tiont" those who arc interested in profitable firming in North tandina Agricultural workers of State College say that there is nothing startling about the progrant nor is there so much that is new to the*farmersnfjhis State. the program sintpt-y. gives voice to those principles which have guid ed the extension workers for a ]<umher of yiars. t he facts given in the program have been estah tished by successful farmers who have worked with the county agents amt extension specialists and in some cases, the best land owners of entire counties have followed the ideas which the pro gram embodies. The program pleads for a sound diversification of crops. It calls for the growing of grain and hay. It emphasizes the importance of a year around garden and it shows the profits which may he expect ed by that farmer who has his own ]roultry. his hogs, and his dairy cow in addition to the usual cash crops which he grows. The program shows the profits to be made from cotton when rightly handled and planted on fertile soil and it points out that every farm should have a definite rota tion of crops in which legumes are included for Soil improve- ! ment. Since the program was an nounced, the extension service has received letters of endorse ment from many leading citizens, from the development services of industrial organizations, from farm journals, from bankers and from farmers, all of whom pledge their efforts to assist in promot ing the ideas which the program embodies. FARM RAISED BIRDS WIN HIGH HONORS Kaietgh, N. C.j Nov. to.—T hat the farm hoys and giris of North Caroiina can now prepuce pouitry that ranks with the best in the United States was demonstrated by the resuits of the Sesqui C^nteaniai Pouitry show where 40 such birds made a dean sweep of at! the highest ribbons and sti ver cups awarded in the ciub classes. Through the generosity of former (rovernor Cameron Mor risen, Alien G. Oliver, pouitry extension speciaiist at State Co) iege, was aide to send 40 btrds to this Internationa) Pouitry Show heid during the iast wee kin Octo ber. The birds were accompani ed to the show by county agent i W. Hendricks of Catawba county and were seiected from Catawba, kin coin and Staniy counties. Out of the forty birds sent, 22 won biue ribbons, eight won red ribbons and two won white ribbons. In addition three sitter cups for the best birds in the show were won in specia! sweepstakes contests. Two en tries consisting of a Rhode Island Red puiiet cockerel were judged the two best birds in the show of any bread by any cbntestant. Pouitry workers at State Co) iege express them skives as being highiy picased at this wonderfu) showing. For a number of years, extension workers have been piacing pure bred pouitry with farm boys am! giris. Demonstra tions in how to mate, breed and care for, the birds have been made and the results show now that the boys and giris are learning these vatuabie iessons very rapidiv. It is feit that the State has gained some vatuabie advertising as a resuit of this contest. Mr. Oliver states that this js not the first time that the pouitry ciub mem bers have won first prizes at nationa) events. Waiter Yotmg. of Dayton, Ohio, one of the Sosqui judges, stated thfit the North Ca.roiina birds were as good as any that he had ever seen. He felt that the entries woutd have won first prizes in the open show as weii as in the ciub ciasses where they were entered. ^ ^ Is a Prescription For Malaria, Chills and Fever.
