With this issue ; The Tar heel enters upon its eight year, and a new board of' editors assume the duties and ' responsibilities, incident upon its publication. The task is undertaken not without hesitation and reluctance,-but also with the . firm purpose of doing everything in ourjpower to place and keep the Tar Heel in the front rank of college newspapers. But the editors cannot unaided ac complish this, we beg the assistance of the University and especially do we need ''the hearty co-operation of the student body." As the official organ of The General Athletic Association the athletic interests must necessarily command the foremost place, but the Tar Heel wishes to be the pet representative of all the many sided life of the University and to serve all its best interests. Communications, of pertinence and interest to the student body will be gladly, received, though the editors reserve1 the right to reject any Communication.
