With this issue ; The Tar heel
enters upon its eight year, and a
new board of' editors assume
the duties and ' responsibilities,
incident upon its publication. The
task is undertaken not without
hesitation and reluctance,-but also
with the . firm purpose of doing
everything in ourjpower to place
and keep the Tar Heel in the
front rank of college newspapers.
But the editors cannot unaided ac
complish this, we beg the assistance
of the University and especially do
we need ''the hearty co-operation of
the student body."
As the official organ of The
General Athletic Association the
athletic interests must necessarily
command the foremost place, but
the Tar Heel wishes to be the pet
representative of all the many sided
life of the University and to serve
all its best interests.
Communications, of pertinence
and interest to the student body
will be gladly, received, though the
editors reserve1 the right to reject
any Communication.
Suggestions .'as.. ;- to improvement
in manner, or matter will also re
ceive due consideration, for the Tar
HEEL belongs to you, not to the ed

your benefi t. And - as it is your
