THE NEW LIBRARY. The Plans Situation of Building. Other New Buildings Proposed. At last the new library is to be ronlitv. The plans and specifica tions have already been received from architect F. P. Milburn, of Colum bia S. C. and the contract will be let as soon as possible. It is hoped that work can be begun on the building this fall, in order that it may be completed and ready ior rwn nation next spring. According to the statement of the architect the new library will be building on the campus. It is to cost fifty thousand .iu,,-B and - is to be built ot UWI VJ Wk and stone. All ot the fifty thousand dollars subscribed w h maintenance of the building, mnrpd bv Mr. Carnegie, the ,1 nf the building itself, has been in every since shortly after commencement. The site finally decided upon for W nw library is directly m Iron of the infirmary, and some distance K,rV from the pathway running tV,n Old West building to the north gate of the campus. This itinn U convenient to all parts o h ramnus. The logical site ior v,o lihrarv would be that now occu pied. by the old chemical laboratory but it is impossible to dispense with this building at present. Some time, in tlie near future, it is to be hoped, this "bid laboratory will be replaced by a new building corres ponding in architecture to Alumni Hall. The situation of the library will render necessary the removal of the infirmary. It will, very probably be moved to a less crowded quarter of the campus. Sooner or later a new infirmary will have to be pro vided, as. the present one is totally inadequate for the needs of the University. The new building will be situated on a more secluded por tion of the '"..mpus. The held m the rear of Carr bivldinff has been suggested as a suitable location. The building committee in charge of the library is composed of the following trustees and faculty mem bers: Col. Tho. R- Kenan, Dr. T? H T.owis. Josephus Daniels, i)r F. P. Veuablc, Dr. C, A. Smith and Dr. Eben Alexander. Bible Study Rally. (Continued from First Page.) association and the method in which thev will be ' taught. For the first time this year editor- in-chief McLean of the Yackety Yack called his board . together on Saturday afternoon. Committees were appointed, and a , general out- lire of the work on the annual was mapped out. The board this year has a erreat advantage over last year's board in getting started to work so early, and it is going to make use of it. Although tne Yackety Yack for last year was prinp1 the best in the South. the board this year will make a strenuous effort to improve upon it. The 1905-'6 annual was also a great success financially. Last Spring, for the first time in its his tory, the Yackety Yack was put on a paying basis. Mr. J. A.
