Entertains. The Young Men's Christian As sociation held a very pleasant in formal reception in the rooms of the Association building from 9 to 11 Monday night. Mr. F. B. Rankin, better known as "Big Un," made a most charming master of ceremon ies and Mr. ,.f "Bill" Fountain starred at the lemonade counter. Coupling with the names of these those of Messrs. "Fatty" Eagles, "Munchy" Logan, and "Tommy" Parker, it is useless to state that the occasion was in every way an immense success. Messrs. Coghill and Withers added much to the pleasure of the evening by the se lections they -rendered on the piano, and Mr. C. P. Tillett performed very gracefully on the graphophone. The star speech was made by Mr. A. B. Rodriguez. On the whole the reception was very enjoyable, and the students should rejoice that the Y. M. C. A. intends to repeat it soon. Although everybody was invited there were only about 200 men present. Next time it is hoped that every man in college Will come out and get his share of the lemon ade and cake. Professor Gore is thoroughly con versant with the life and language of the people of Holland and his discussion of the political and eco nomic struggle of the indomitable little state was a valuable one to the student. The lecture was illustrated by lantern-slides made from views taken by the speaker himself. Last night Professor Gore spoke before the Elisha Mitchell Scientific Society on the subject "Within the Arctic Circle." Soph-Senior Game. Again the score of 9 to 5, the Sophmores being the winners this time. The game occured Friday afternoon and was witnessed by a large and enthusiastic crowd, be fore which the Sophs had the pleasure of retrieving themselves for their defeat at the hands of the Juniors a few days before. The game was not an especially good one as it abounded in errors, the Seniors making 6 and the Sophs 8 Pemberton who pitched for '07, was punished to the extent of 13 hits, while the Seniors found Gaddy for oulv 3.
