While the members of Chapel Hill Fire Company No. 10 were revelling in ice cream and cake at Pick's Friday night somebody gave the bellcord at the Methodist church a yank and lo! through windows and doors the heroic fire men vanished like magic only to find that "Buck" Hicks was merely lighting up another cigarette. Green will de liver the final lecture on the Star Course program for this year in Gi. rard Hall tomorrow night. Dr. Green has been associated for twenty-five years with the rapidly flowing current of American life and is said to be a speaker of marked power and ability. His lectures deal largely with civic problems. A few of his subjects are: "The Key to the 20th Cen tury," a study of American dynam ics; "Civic Bacteriology," a study of American problems; "Left Handed Men," a song for the strug gle; and "The Gospel of Discon tent," a protest against the simple life. cine they administered, and it was exceedingly bitter. What matter if the hands of the Shuffler's fielders were as guiltless of gloves as are the cheeks of a blooming; Freshie of fuzz? they could walk up into the zephyrs with alacrity, nevertheless, and pull in drives that would have made many much be-gloved collegians wince with pain. What matter if their" s. s," ware a "short stopper" and manipulated a mitt large enough for an abnormally sensitive catcher? he could capture the elusive sphere in a manner that made the Chapel Hillians gasp. The Rabbitites could biff the said sphere, too, clear out of sight, and in spite of the gyrations of the Chapel Hill boys' southpaw battery the homers were doomed. Nor was the lead of the boys from Rabbit Shuffle satisfactory Loud were their protests at the de cisions, of "Fmpire" Loyd, the local representative of Uncle Sam Moreover, when it was discovered that scorer Pendegrass had given both first and last innings to Chapel Hill great was the demand for Pendegrass, but Pendegrass was not to be found. A substitute was sought in the "empire", just in time to catch a fleeting glimpse of his coat-tails rapidly disapearing over the horizon by the well. But Rabbit Shuffle won just the same Rabbit Shuffle forever! TFiDED WITH Pickard DEALERS IN Rabbit Shuffle Forever! While Carolina and Virginia were battling in Greensboro, and the Juniors and Seniors were locked in mortal combat cm the new ath letic field a contest that eclipsed both in importance was taking place on the diamond behind the Gym, where, in a game replete in sensational plays, the Chapel Hill Teasers went down in defeat before the stalwart champions of Rabbit Shuffle. Six to four was the medi- As to the Sheepskins. The style of the diplomas to be awarded to the members of the graduating class has been changed this year. Heretofore the diplomas have been in Latin, lit hogmphed with sundry impressive flourishes on exceedingly academic sheepskin. The sheepskin is to be retained, but from now on the diplomas will be in plain United States engraved in script. The new design will very probably be far less embarrassing to certain members of the class who have held extended negotiations with Dr Howe. Ice Cream, assorted flavors, at Pickard & Strowd's.
