Settlors Defeat Juniors.
Seniors 5, Juniors 0 was the
score of the game Tuesday. The
only touchdown was made in the
first minute ol play. The teams
were almost evenly matched with
the advantage a little in the Sen
ior's favor. Their offensive work
was better than that of their
opponents. But after th: touch
down made early in the first half
neither side could score.
Fountain for the Seniors received
the kick off and immediately punted
back down the field. Eagles and
Britt were there to receive it and
Eagles carried the ball to the three
yard line before he was downed.
The touchdown was made in one
rush. The Seniors failed to kick
goal.
The rest of the eame was taken
up in vain attempts at touchdowns,
the Seniors for the most part car
rying the ball. There was much
fumbling on both sides,
. Britt, Groome, and Ruffin played
best for the Seniors, while Edwards,
Coffin Johnston and Yokely did the
starring for the Juniors.

To the Men who Hold the Line.
Oh, the full-back bows to the cheering crowd,
And the halves, and the quarter, too,
And the praise ascends to the plucky ends
Who fight for the White and Blue ;
To none so great do I dedicate
This poor little verse of mine
But here's to those in the fighting rows,
To the men who hold the line !
' -II
You watch the game and you'll all exclaim:
"Just look at that fellow run!"
And you'll shout and roar when the struggle's oe'r
That the game was only won
By the full-back's pluck in that splendid buck
That carried him to the goal ; -But
you don't see fit to think a bit
Of the man who made the hole.
Ill
Yes, the full-back has his meed of thanks,
And the quarter "did it all",
And the halves are praised, and a voice is raised
For the ends who took the ball ;
To none so great do I dedicate
This poor little verse of mine
But here's to those in the fighting rows,
To the men who hold the line !

Magazine Prizes
Realizing the fact that the sketch
department in the University Maga
zine is one of the best features of
the Magazine, the committe in
charge of its endowment fund has
decided to give a special prize of
two dollars for the best sketch ap
pearing iii each issue. The sketch
department as represented in the
University Magazine is an ad
vance over similar departments in
other college magazines, and it is
hoped that this offer will materially
increase its excellence.
In the hope of creating an interest
in the college topics department,
the committee will give another
prize of two dollars for the best ar
ticle about current college affairs.
This department was not repre
sented in the last issue of the Maga
