The New Hanover County Club iwas entertained Wednesday night by Professor Noble at an informal but sumptuous supper in honor of the one hundred and thirteenth an niversary of the arrival here of the University's first student Hinton James, of Wilmington who en tered February 12th, 1795. Be sides the members of the club there were present Dr. Kemp Plummer Battle, the inspiration of much his torical work throughout the State; Dr. J. G. deRoulhac Hamilton, the late principal of the Wilmington High School; Prof. W. S. Bernard who is a graduate of the Wilming ton public schools, and Mr. Hand James, great grandson of Hinton James. During the talks that were made, the fact was brought to light that since the first registration here; there have been 400 men from New Hanover county, 360 of whom were from Wilmington. The talks made by Professor Noble, Dr. Battle; Dr. Hamilton, , Professor Bernard and others were mainly of Hinton James his life here and after his graduation and the University of that day as compared with the Uni versity as it is to-day.
