Bishop Strange's Sermon (Continued from First Page ) "The intimate relation of mind and body is now recognized. An ill mind produces an ill body and an ill body causes an ill mind. In the same vvay our thoughts shape our character. Therefore let us all be hopeful, courageous, and noble in our thoughts and we will Robbery at University Station. Sunday night the depot at Uni versity Station was broken into and robbed. The robber or robbers were shrewd enough to choose the first of the month as the time for the raid. (Continued from First Page) guests at the home of Mr. Chas. Whedbee, secretary of the Board of Trustees of the University, and this gentleman and his charming little wife made our stay so pleas ant that alwavs we will have a tender spot in our hearts for Hert ford. Indeed all the boys were en thusiastic in their praise of this beautiful old town, and I am sure that the heart of more than one was heavy at having such a short time to stay. Here we had a large and enthusiastic audience. We reached the city late yester- day atternoon ana learned that we were not to show last night. It was deemed best to show only one nisrht and we were all glad. Last night we were tendered a most de lightful reception at the home of Rae Kramer's father. The recep tion was entirely informal and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the boys. We met some of Carolina's fairest daughters, and this reception will long be remembered as one of the bright spots in our lives. We give a performance here to morrow night and begin our home ward journey Tuesday H. B. G. Mr. Connor Speaks before the His torical Society. Mr. R. D. W. Connor of the State Historical Society last Mon day night presented in the Chemis try Lecture Room a paper of great value before the local Historical Society. The subject of the paper was, "The Priority of North Car olina in the Demand for Independ ence." The speaker discussed and ex plained the many difficulties which the North Carolina colonists had to contend with during" the adminis tration of Governor Martin and his predecessors and showed conclusive ly that North Carolina was first in the demand for independence. The paper was greatly enioyed by the large audience present. It showed thorough investigation; it was non partisan, clear and convincing. As Dr. Battle suggested, it should by all means be published. The His torical Society and the college of which he is an alumnus hope that Mr. Connor will visit Chapel Hill more frequently in the future.
