Passing over the first two, he laid stress upon the last and made an excellent address. The Coming Games. Carolina's doers of diamond stunts will face Lafayette again to day, Randolph-Macon 'Loraorrow, William and Marv Tuesdav, and Cornell Wednesday. Past exper ience with these teams gives weight to the statement that not one of thr games will be uninteresting. The fans are happy. Snow and Baseball. Snow and baseball do not mix. The game against Oak Ridge, scheduled for Saturday, failed to materialize. So did the the Med ina w. So did the Junior-Pharmacj' Seniors 17; Sophs 10. The Seniors defeated the Sopho mores Thursday afternoon by the score of 17 to 10. It seemed for a time that the Sophs would not know how it felt to have a man suc cessfully run the gauntlet of the four bases, for they couldn't find Matthews. But in the seventh in ning they found him, and for the rest of the game they batted him pretty freely. The lead against them, however, was too great. The Seniors had batted Person almost at will and scored run after run, until the seventh when Sloan went in the box. Sloan kept the hits scattered and only three runs were made by the Seniors after he began the twirling. Rand Gets Scholarship. That was a nervy trick when Hobbs threw the ball to second with a man on third and it don't work every time. Tar Heel Chances. Mr. J. W. Heisman, athletic director in football and baseball at Georgia Tech. and president of the Alanta Southern League Baseball Club, in dealing out base ball dope in Sunday's Charlotte Observer has this to say in regard to Carolina's team: "The Tar Heels fromChapel Hill are banking on one of the best teams in their history. With the whole of last year's excellent in field, consisting of Hamilton, Mont gomery, Fountain and James, back at school they certainly can be said to have a flying start. Behind the bat Hobbs, of the famous Hobbs brothers battery of Guilford Col lege, will officiate, and that's "nuf sed" about the receiving depart ment. In the outfield they have Cole who played three years on the University of West Virginia team, Stevens and Wadswortlr, ex-cla team players. The prospective slab artists include Fullen wider, a "prep" school star; Stewert, of Wofford College, and Andrews and Duls, both pitchers of experience. "The captain is the veteran third baseman, Burt James, and the coach Otis Stockdale, who has for years successfully coached the Trinity teams, and who may be re lied upon to solder the component parts most strongly together.
