New Members of the Faculty
There have been quite a few im
portant changes in the faculty; We
have delayed a little in mentioning
this fact in our columns so that we
might see what the new members were
like. On the whole the stud
well pleased with all of them.
Perhaps the most important change
has been the appointment of Prof. W.
M. Dey as head of the department of
romance languages. Prof. Dey took
both B. S. and M. S. degrees at the
University of Virginia. He was a stu
dent in Paris in 1908; A. M. of Har
vard in 1904; Austin Teaching Fellow
in romance language at Harvard in
1905-06; a student in Spain during the
summer of 1906; assistant professor of
romance languages at the University
of Missouri 190b-09. Prof. Dey has
undoubtedly made an immense im
pression at the beginning of his career
here.
As Associate -Professor of French,
Mr. Towles has been added to niir
faculty. Prof. Towles took his A. B.
at the University of Virginia and for
three years was a student at John
Hopkins University.
To succeed Prof. McGehee of the
Law Department Mr. P. H. Winston
has beea secured. For a year he was
a member of the class of 1902 at the
University of Texas.' He graduated,
however, with the class of 1902 at the
University of North Carolina. He also
graduated at West Point in 1905 and
was a second lieutenant in the United
States Army one year.l
three years he has bee

BATTLE & GRAHAM, Agents
With faces alternately scraping the
ground, with grunts and stifled breath
ings the two little coons discussed
the issues at hand. The fight ended
when the black, and fat, little negro,
the one of the pure African blood,
took a seat on the back of the mulat
to's neck and waited for the lie to be
reversed.
