On the whole the stud well pleased with all of them. Perhaps the most important change has been the appointment of Prof. W. M. Dey as head of the department of romance languages. Prof. Dey took both B. S. and M. S. degrees at the University of Virginia. He was a stu dent in Paris in 1908; A. M. of Har vard in 1904; Austin Teaching Fellow in romance language at Harvard in 1905-06; a student in Spain during the summer of 1906; assistant professor of romance languages at the University of Missouri 190b-09. Prof. Dey has undoubtedly made an immense im pression at the beginning of his career here. As Associate -Professor of French, Mr. Towles has been added to niir faculty. Prof. Towles took his A. B. at the University of Virginia and for three years was a student at John Hopkins University. To succeed Prof. McGehee of the Law Department Mr. P. H. Winston has beea secured. For a year he was a member of the class of 1902 at the University of Texas.' He graduated, however, with the class of 1902 at the University of North Carolina. He also graduated at West Point in 1905 and was a second lieutenant in the United States Army one year.l three years he has bee the law firm of Craig Asheville, N. Mr. Henry has changed fron instructor of Math to instructor of h'c tin. Mr. W. S. Coulter has been appointed assistant in Latin. Mr. F. E. Winslow has been appointed assistant in (Serman. Mr. W. L.
