The One Hundred and Forty-third Session will begin September, 27, 1909. A large proportion (at least 80 per cent. ) of the graduating classes secure positions as Kesident Physicians in Hospitals. At a very enthusiastic meeting' of the Basketball Association in : the Y. Alderman, Sec; and Robert Scott, Treas. This is a very enthusiastic and active club and it bids fair to pluck the feather from the cap of the Mechlenburg County Club in regard to numbers. The latter has not organiaed yet but its last year's membership roll is only a very little larger than that which the Guilford County Club boosts this year. The Guilford organization has thirty members and this number is almost enough to place the nameof Greens ooro aneaa or tnat or nariotte in the race for increased attend-nee at the University. Saturday night the Phi Society initiated Messrs. O. C. Hamilton, Wi T. Dortch, Jr., and J. B. De looche. Johnston, Sunday Hours: Garolina-Tennessee Captain Garrett with seventeen pick ed men from the squad leaves this ev ening for Knoxville to meet the Uni versity of Tennessee there Saturday. It will be remembered that Tennessee downed us last season, 12 to 0. It is anxiously hoped by the student body that Saturday's game will wipe out that score. If hard work, and plucky playing can do it, we may count on our squad to bring back laurels for Carolina. Coach Brides is pleased with the work of the boys during the past week, and feels confident of giv ing Tennessee a good game Saturday. Those selected for the trip are: Capt. Garrett; Hedgepeth, and Spain- hour tackles; Thompson, McLean, and Norweod, guards; Brown, and Deans, center; Winston, Williams, and Venable, ends; Ruffin and Belk, quar tors; Porter, Croswell, Williams, and Belden, backs. Although the Kentucky Stears show ed better training they were not able to cross Tennessee's goal line on Oct 2. Several times the Tennessee "inns' were harh pushed close to their own goal, but each time they held like Gi braltar. They were slow in progress ing the ball and never once came close to Kentucky's goal. The ball during the 20 minute halves was almost cer tainly in Tennessee's territory. Ten nessee proved much stronger on the de fense than offense and all through the game put up a fierce struggle.
