In the Friday night section Mr. T. M. Price made the best speech. The Oxford Ledger of the 8th inst says: "On Tuesday night, the alumni o the state university living in Oxford and the county will meet for the pur pose of forming an association, and at an early date a smoker will be eriven and the organization perfected. There are a number of Chapel Hill boys liv ing here." Dr. T. Dwight Sloan delivered an interesting talk before the Y. M. C. A. Thursday night. Dr. Sloan is the reo- resentative of the National "Students Mission Study Conference," which is to be held at Rochester, N. Y., duriug the last of December. The member ship of this conference is limited to three thousand delegates of which we are entitled to seven. It has been ar ranged for the delegation from the two Carohnas to make the trip in a special pullman. This will certainly be an in teresting and profitable trip for those who are lucky enough to be able to take it. In the Phi Society Saturday niVht the query was Resolved: "That there should be established and maintained an Appalachian Forest Reserve". The decision was that the affirmative won and that Mr. E. W.
