LOCALS Jim Hackney attended the Great State Pair. John A. Moore,? "09, is working in Nighthawk, Wash. Kemp Battle returned from Ra leigh Thursday night. Rev N. Colliu Hughes, Archdea con of the Convocation at Raleigh, is spending a few days here with his family. Mr. Frank Pickard has returned from the hospital at Baltimore much improved in health. John M. ' Mr. Dudley Pierce is spending several davs on the Hill. Mr. George McNiles, of Raleigh, was hi town the last of the week. Dr. Hubert A. Royster, dean of the medical department of the Uni versity at Raleigh, spent a few days of last week in the city. Roby C. Day, '07, of Charlotte, is spending a few days on the cam pus. An expert from , the factory in New York, was4 wired for and arrived Tuesday. He re ported that the trouble was in the main shaft and could not be remedi ed unless it was taken to the facto ry. In the meantime the power plant will do every thing in their power to give satisfaction. The Merchant of Venice will be played in the Academy , of Music, Durham, Monday night. Dr. J. A. Montgomery, of Mau yin, Texas preached at the, Presby terian Church on Sunday. While here Dr. Montgomery was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Kluttz. Rev. B. F. Huske.
