LOCALS . John Lasley spent the first of the week at his home in Burlington. Rev. R. W. Houe returned from a short trip to Asheville Thursday night.- - The Senior Banquet will be held on December 3rd. . The moving- picture show in the Y. M. C. A. Auditorium continues to draw g-ood sized crowds each night. N. C. Hughes Jr., of Chocow inity, N. C, who was in college here a few years ago is on the Hill visiting his parents Rev. and Mrs. N. C. Hughes. Mr. W. H.Grimes, president -of last year's law class, who is now practicing law in Raleigh, has l?een spending a few days on the Hill. 0 Mr. W. H. Sory has returned . to - the Hill after a visit of several (Jays to different places in South Caro- lina. . ; j There will be the first Stag Ger man of.ths year in the gymnasium tonight. The event will ' bring to the minds of many the hallowed memory of that ancient and once flourishing order, the "I Tap pa Kegs." At a meeting of the German Club last week Mr. Robert S. McNeill was chosen- to lead the German club dance which is to take place about the first of December. Messrs. R. W. Winston and R. T. Tanner were chosen to assist him. j i In the Phi Society Saturday night the query debated was, Resolved, That the United States congress should enact more stringent divorce laws. The affirmative won ami T. B. De Loach made the best speech. The Junior Pharmacy class has elected the following officers: Pres ident Chester Harris; Vice-President, C. W. Reed; Sec. and Treas., W. F. Strayhorn; Historian, C M, Van Poole, There are thirty-nine men in the class. ' The Johnson County Club met in the Mission Room of the,Y. M. j C. A. Building Thursday night and elected the following officers: Pres ident, George Whitley; Vice-President, H. E. Austin; Sec and Treas. J. P, Cordon. The club meets the first Wednesday in every month. C A; Tuesday night at '6.45 A Mr. Andrew.-" was' one of Carolina's re presentatives in debate against Pennsylvania and George Washing, ton. The Chemical Journal Club met Monday evening in the Chemical laboratory with Dr. A. S. Wheeler in the chair. The general subject was the "The Paraffin Hdrocar bons." Mr. W. M. Oates discuss ed "The Origin of Petroleum." Mr. T. P. Nash, Jr. reported upon a new investigation of "3-Methyl-Heptane". Mr. R. L. Hunter on "Di-isobutyl" and Dr. White on "I so Octave." The Rutherford County Club met Wednesday night in C. E. Mc intosh's room, at the residence of Dr. Thos. Hume. A very delight ful hour was spent. Dr. Hume was present and his very presence helped to enliven the occasion. Dr. H. M. Wagstaff, who taught at Rutherford college a few years ago and who is an honorary member of the club was also present. During the hour light refreshments were served. This club is beginning the year with a spirit of enthusiasm which they are likely to keep up. The following are the officers: Pres ident, O. K. Bennett; Vice-Presi dent, M. S. Beam; Secretary, J. R. Nixon; Treasurer, H. E. Stacy. There was a meeting of Le Cercle Francais Tuesday night and there was a-full. 'and enthusiastic atten- dance.
