Leonard led the discussion- The topic was "Church Going". ' T. Gilbert Pear son, of Greensboro, an alumnus of the University, is spending a few days on the Hill. A new room has been added ot the Universty Press building. The new space will be used for a com posing room. It is hoped that the printers will have more than " elbow room " wheu they move in their new quarters. Drs. J; G. DeR. Hamilton, H. M. Wagstaff, Profs. M. C. S. Noble, and B. K. Graham attended the meeting of North Carolina Histor ical Literary Society in Raleigh Thursday. L. N. Morgan, 1912, has been elected an associate editor of the TAR HEEL to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of R. Tompson Webb. Early in the fall term some one left a nice coat down at the gym nasium. The coat is now in the hands of the janitor and the owmr may get it by applying to him The Tuesday night meeting of the Y; M. C; -A"was addessed IvJ Rev. Harry Wilson, who has been blind for thirty seven years since he was six years old. He read the Scripture lesson from a raised Bible. In his address he showed that the life of the blind was not altogether a life of bitterness but just as pleasant as the life of those who see. He gave a very interesting account of the methods used in educating the blind. Mr. Wilson is to enter -Vanderbilt University next year. 'j, I Economics Prizes The Lake Mohonk Conference on International Arbitration offers a prize of $100 for the best essay on ''Interna tional Arbitration" by an undergradua te student of an American college or university. The contest closes March 15,1910. The conditions of the con test are as follows: For the purpose of the contest the term "International Arbitration" may be held to include any subject specifi cally treated in the "Conventions for the Pacific Settlement for Internatio nal Disputes" adopted by the first second Hague Conference or in the "Draft Convention Relative to the Cre ation of a Judicial Arbitration Court" agreed to at the second Hague Confer ence. The term "undergraduate student" applies only" to one who, in a college or a scientific school, is doing the work prescribed for the degree of bachelor, or its technical equivalent. Essays must not exceed 5,000 words (a length of 3,000 words is suggested as desirable ) and must be written, preferably in typewriting, on one side j only of plain paper (ruled or unruled) , of ordinary letter size (8x 10 inches), ! with a margin of at least 1' inches. Manuscripts not easily legible will ! not be considered The name, of the writer must not appear on the essay, which should be accompanied by a letter g-iving- the writer's name, class, college and home address, and sent to II. C. Phillips, Secretary Lake Mohonk Conference, VlohorT Lake, N. Y. to reach him not later than March 15, 1910. Essays should be masled flat ( not rolled ) The award of the prize will be made at the meeting of the Mohonk Con ference, in May, 1910, fto which the winner will receive an invitation.
