the Palmer board has shown its in
terest in Elon College. t Last year the
board appropriated $500 and previous
3cars sums have been given, but the
appropriation this year is the largest
one received yet. During Mr. Pal
mer's life he manifested a great in
terest in Elon and at his death left
$30,000 as a permanent endowment to
Elon College.
President Moffitt is this week at
tending the Western North Carolina
Conference which met at Graham, in
this county. Wednesday afternoon he
addressed the conference on the
"Status and needs of Elon College,"
outlining his policy for raising the
$50,000 endowment.
Last week Mr. W. Z. Atkinson, of
Cardenas, gave the president $500 on
this endowment, this making a total
of $10,000 raised to date.
