Miss Anice Bright, who was on
the Hill from Friday till Sunday,
left for Durham Sunday afternoon.
Miss Bright will be back next week
to g-ive her first instruction to her
vocal class which she organized on
Saturday.
Prof. Collier Cobb will be the
speaker at Greensboro on National
Civic Day, March 10. The subject
of his address will be "What a Ge
ologist Sees of Civic Conditions in
a Tramp Over Europe".
Miss Ann'e McGehee, who is
attending- school at St. Mary's in
Raleigh, spent Sunday on the Hill
with her. mother, Mrs. George Mc
Gehee. Miss McGehee is a niece
of Mr. Lucius Polk McGehee,
recently elected Dean of the Law
Department.

Belden represented the Universit
Chapter of Kappa Sigma at the
Convention which was held in Char
lotte last week.

Saturday night. The negative won
both nights. On Friday night Mr.
E. F. McCuiloch made the best
speech, and Mr. H. G. ' Roberson
deserved honorable mention. On
Saturday night Mr. D. B. Teayue
made the best speech.
In the Di Hall Saturday night
there was a lively discussion of the
quer Resolved, That the members
of the President's Cabinet be al
lowed a seat in Congress. The
negative won, J. T. Reece making
the best speech. B. D. Stevenson
received honorable mention.
The Commencement debaters
from the Dialectic Society are Claw
son L. Williams and G. W. Thomp
son. The debaters from the Phi
lanthropic Society have not yet been
chosen. They will be elected on a
competitive basis in a contest
which will be held at any early
date. The question to be debated
is, Resolved, That the United
States government should establish
a great central bank.
The question for the Sophomore
Debate in the Phi Society is, Re
solved, That the merging of the
Southern cotton mills into one cor
poration would promote the indus
trial development of the South.

Prof. Collier Cobb mentioned to
one of his geology classes Monday
morning the loss of his No. 3 Fold
ing Pocket Kodak, that was taken
from the basement of the Chemical
Laboratory on Friday. It is an old
instrument and old style, bein
without the bulb and other modern
attachments: bu. its owner has
taken it on many geological jour
neys, and the students have greatly
enjoyed the many fine pictures he
brouifht home for class instruction.
His name and address were written
on a tag attached to the strap.
Mr. Cobb very considerately re
gards the taking of his camera as a
practical joke. Its perpetrator
may now return the. camera, thro
Richard at the Laboratory or thro
any student, ot geology, just as he
prefers.
