Mr. Pickard has a large force of workmen digging ditches through the South Eastern part of the Arboretum preparatory to laying several lines of drainage tile. It is thought that when the water is drained off,' trees and shrubs will flourish here as in the other parts of the Arboretum. Miss Virginia G. Thompson, of Jacksonville, N.
