THE TAR HEEL Spqrtograms Well, bretheren it's all over. We haven't had a particularly joyous time of it. Of nine g-ames on our schedule we took three. On six painful occasi ons we've had the white wash brush applied to us in a highly artistic man ner. It's a beautiful cinch we won do any football boasting- Christmas, Harvard copped the Eastern cham pionship, Michigan the Western Vanderbilt the Southern, and George town the South Atlantic. We rank the seven big teams of the South Atlantic section as follows: Georgetown A. & M. V. P. I. Virginia , Washington and Lee Davidson Carolina We are giving two all South At lantic teams first and second choices. Roach Stewart made most of the pick, He has seen all of the Big Seven in ac tion and as player and coach knows whereof he is speaking. The first eleven Left end Baris- cello (Georgetown). Fast, aggressive, and a fine open field tackier. Left tackle- Abernethy (Carolina). The grittiest linesman in South At lantic football. Plenty of weight. Left guard Dasheill (V. M. I). A steady player with plenty of ex perience. Center Bray (A. & M). Accurate in passing, fast under punts and strong on defense. Right guard Fitzgerald (George town). Has the weight and is a scrapper from start to finish. Right tackle Weymard (George town) . The classiest tackle of the season A fine punter. Right end Kluttz (Davidson). The best end in the half way of the South. Fast as a bat out of Hades and a peach with forward passes. Quarter bacK Costello (George town). Young but a splendid man in every respect. A fine drop kicker and open field runner. ' Left half Todd (Virginia). . Light but the best open field runner in this section. V; Right half Robertson (A. & M). Heavy and marvclously fast. An excelli-nt line plunger. Full back Porter (Carolina). Best defensive back on a South At lantic gridiron this year. Probably the best line plunger. That bunch would give any team in the country a good stiff fight. SECOND TEAM. ' Left end Finlay (Virginia). Left tackle Burruss (V. P. I). Left guard Thompson (Carolina). Center-Webster (V. M. I) Right guard Floyd (A. & M). Right tackle Glenn (A. & M). Right end Venable (Carolina). Quarter Honaker (Virginia). Left half Dunn (Georgetown). Right half Fury (Georgetown). Full back- -Hodgson (V. P. I). That outfit doesn't look bad by a long shot. Each season there are a number of claimants for the championship of the South. This can never really be de cided until th South Atlantic teams meet those of the far South. Our pri vate opinion is, however, that Van derbilt has the call on anything south of the Mason and Dixon line. Further more there are two other teams of the far South, that, we are certain, would have more than an even show with Georgetown Auburn and Arkansas. If you haven't read that last Siwash Yam, you had better'get hold of it. It will cheer you up. NOW is a good time to pay for your Tar Heel subscription.
