"She Stoops to Conquer," University Dramatic Club, Monday night, Feb. 20th. The coming appearance in this city of "Honey's Boys" Concert Company on Feb. 25 recalls the interesting fact that the experiences of these musical cherubs is strangely fascinating and interesting. From the executive man sion at Washington, where they re ceived the enthusiastic admiration of President and Mrs. Roosevelt, and their 500 invited guests at the. now historic Christmas Concert, given by them at the White House, to the gloomy prison cells in the great peni tentiaries, is a wide gulf, yet their prison audiences are no less critical and appreciative than those, at the Nation's Capital. In the past few years Mr. Roney has given concerts to over 60,000,000 'unfortunate inmates of penal and other public institutions in the United States. The effect of these marvel ously sweet voices upon the criminal class is described as wonderful. The audience of thieves, burglars, and murderers listens with vapt attention, many of them with tears running down their faces, and ap plauded with a frenzy of enthusiasm. They have several times sung in the cells of condemned prisoners awaiting the electric chair. Mr. Roney is usually allowed to take the boys along the tiers of . cells and talk with the prisoners, and the gratitude they show for the pleasure brought into their monotonous lives reveals the good which lies even in such hearts as these, if it can be but reached. The prisoners often thank the boys with tears in their eyes, and give , them souvenirs and presents. 4 Roney Boys" at Gerrard Hall Sat urday February 25th, highest priced Star course number of the season.
