Miss Hill is visiting- her mother and brother Mr. Hampden Hill. Miss Christine Macintosh spent a few days in Durham last week. Mrs. Anderson, of Rocky Mount, is visiting Mrs. Bell for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes returned Sat urday from "an extended' trip North. Mr. Wescott Roberson, of High Point is on the Hill visiting relatives. Mrs. Timberlake of Hartsville, S. C, is visiting Mrs. C. T. Woolen for a week. Mrs. C. T. Woolen returned Satur day night from a short trip to Rich mond, Va. ; Messrs. h. B. McLendon, Cyrus Hogue and Don MacRae went to Dur ham Saturday. Mrs. A. A. Kluttz is away on a short visit to fjiends in Greensboro and Goldsboro. Miss Virginia Keiser, of Rocky Mount is visiting Mrs. James Royster for a few days. D. L. Kriowles has gone to his home in Mt. Olive to recuperate after an attack of appendicitis, A large delegation of boys went to Durham Saturday to see Lillian Rus sel "In Search of a Sinner." The ladies of the Episcopal church will serve refreshments at Dr. Mao Nider's office from 7 to 9 Saturday afternoon. In designating the societies to which the men belong w'o are trying for the Virginia and Georgia debates the Tak Heei made several mistakes. Here is the correct division: Messrs. Prof. Patterson delivers his third lecture in Chapel tonight at 7:30 on the problems of the city. The real facts and recent statistics given in each lecture about the' conditions and gaowth of our cities, are making this course exceedling interesting and profitable. Prof. . Patterson holds his class one half hour, making it possible for every student to attend the lectures. The annual sophomore Debate of the Philanthropic society was held in the Phi. Hall last Saturday night. The query was: Resolved, that 'our further tariff .legislation should tend towards the abandonment of a pro tective tariff.. The affirmative side of the question was represented by E W. Joyner and I. M. Bailey, and the negative side by D. R. Blalock and H. C. Petteway. . The debate was hotly contested by both sides. Each of the four gentle men had a logical and convincing argument for his respective side Their delivery was for the most part strong and forcible.
