Prof. M. C. S. Noble went to Greens boro Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Woolen spent Monday in Durham. Mrs. Herbert Battle spent Sunday with"Dr. and Mrs. Kemp Battle. Mrs. Olds, of '"Norfolk is visiting her daughter.'Mrs. William Dey. MissRandolph Archer entertained a few friends on Friday afternoon. Iv. E.": Bradshaw '14 of Rox borcfis spending" a few days at home. MissCAugusta Landis, of Durham spent the week end with" Miss Alice Noble. W. T. Joyner and R. W. Winston spent Sunday with their people in Raleigh. Born, Thursday, to Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Hyde Pratt, a son, Joseph Hyde Pratt, Jr. Miss Alice Noble entertained Sat urday night in honor of her guest, Miss Landis. Mrs. Anderson, the guest of Mrs. Bell, left Friday for her home at Rocky Mount. D. L. Knowles '14 returned Mon day night after a week's visit to his home in Mt. Olive. A. A. Zollicoffer returned Monday night after a three days visit to his home in Henderson. Brevard Stephenson returned Sat urday nigh after a week's visit to his mother in Charlotte. George Elliot, Ex. '13, of Linden, N. C, spent Sunday on the Hill, as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Mc Rae. Miss Sallie Bird, of Baltimore, who has been visiting Mrs. Dey left Sat urday for a visit to friends in Aug usta, Ga. Sec. Ed. P. Hall conducted services at the Methodist church on Sunday night, owing to the illness of Rev. Mr. Stanbury. Mrs. Timberlake, who has been the guest of Mrs. Woollen for the past week, left Friday for her home in Hartsville, S. C. The ladies of the Episcopal church will serve refreshments at Dr Mac Nider's office from 6 to 8 o'clock Sat urday evening. r; Beginning next Sunday Mr: Kita sawa will make addresses at the sev eral Sunday schools in the neighbor hood on Christian work in Japan. While away Mr. Hogue preached at the noon day services for men at the Granby Theatre each day, and at the afternoon and evening services at the several churches in and around Norfolk.
