Messrs Deas and Joyner .returned Monday from Charlottesville, Va., where they represented Carolina in the Virginia Carolina debate. Miss Petteway, sister of W. R. Pet- teway '13, spent the week-end with her brother and returned to Peace In stitute on Monday afternoon. Miss ; Annie Plummer Nicholson after a week's visit to Mrs. R. S. Mac-r Rae left Monday afternoon for her home in Washington, N. C. j Prsident and Mrs. Francis P. Ven able returned Tuesday from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. James Sprunt at their country home, Artair, near Wilming ton, N. C. . The papers of the contestants for the Preston Cup have been sent to a committee of newspaper men to be judged. The result will be announced at an early date in the Chapel. Mr. Bin Banks, '08, a long time res ident, of the University campus, spent Monday night on the Hill as the guest of Lomtnie Hughes. Mr. Banks is now in the insur.mce business in Kins? ton, N. C. The student who removed a small sized lady-like overshoe from the Eng lish room in the Old East Building, re marking to a fellow student that he would take that and pin it on his wall as a souvenir of the Co-Eds of 191IJ will kindly return the same to its rightful owner. Randolph , Archer, who has been the assistant librarian this year during1 the leave of absence of Miss Nan Strudwick, of Hillsboro, has recently been elected as librarian, to have charge of the Talledega Public Library in Talledega, Alabama. Miss Archer is a graduate of the Training school of the Carnegie Library at At lanta and has taken graduate work both here and at Columbia University.
