Carolina is proud of this-record- it
is the best since 1905. Two out of
three from Virginia jWas, bf course the
most : laudable achievement of the
season. The capture of the Lafayette
geries deserves considerable commen
dation. The Georgetown cop deserves
mention. Our i bunch whitewashed
the Hill Toppers on their own grounds
and they had walloped Yale and
Penn. In the windup of the schedule
the Varsity smeared themselves with
honor by falling on Harry Moran,
Washingtoh and Lee's great twirleri
and giving him his first walloping in
college ball.
Commencement Engagements.
Dr. Edwin Minis spoke Friday night
at Lenoir. He will make an . address
in Greensboro at the State Normal
ou Sunday night.
Prof. E. K. Graham delivered an
an address at , the commencement
exercises of the Wilson High School
Friday.
Dr. Hamilton is to speak next Tues
nay at the Fort Johnson celebration
near Wilmington.
Attended Episcopal Convention.
Drs. Herty and Winston, Rev. Mr.
Hogue and Prof. Patterson attended
the Episcopal Convention of .Dinese of
North Carolina at Rocky ' Mount this

ALL SOUTH ATLANTIC TEAM
A Strong Outfit Picked From Carolina and Virginia
Teams.
All South Atlantic baseball team in
thei electing of this team college play-
ers in North Carolina and Virginia
only were considered. Professional
players on college teams were not con
sidered. Roach Stewart and the Tar
Heeis sporting editor didjthe picking.
They would bat in order as mentioned.
Smith, (Washington and Lee) right
field. This man though a regular
second sacker has had plenty of out
field experience. He is a .300 hitter.
Hasty (Carolina) second base.
Hasty is the best !, elding second sack
er in the South Atlantic section. His
hitting is timely ' r ? v
Calmes (Carolina) first base. An
excellent fielder possessing a wondcr
tul arm; He will hit. over .300.
Farmer (A. and M.) left field cov
ers all sorts of ground. Hits well ov
er .300. '"',) ' v ;.':'.
Douglas (Virginia) shortstop. He
is the best fielding shortstop in this
section. Bats .300. 1
. Edw.irds (Carolina) third base. He
goes after and gets nearly everything
that comes his way. ;Has all grades
of fight. Has a tendency to break up '
games every now and then with a
long hit.
-'-Hackney- (Carolina) center fieldi--..
Hackney is the best judge of a , fly
ball in the South. Hits .250.
Stewart (Guilford) and Witherington
(Carolina) Catchers. Stewart , has a
great arm and is a good hitter. With
erington also has an excellent arm and
would make a good alternate for Stew
art. ' . . u
Twirlers Lee (Carolina), Robert
son (A. and M.) and Rixey (Virginia).
These three men would form a peach
of a pitching staff. Lee copped eight
games this year and lost none. He .
has control and smoke and holds his
nerve when under fire Robertson has
about everything a college moundman
needs; curve, speed and control. He
won seven out of nine, this season.
Rixey has done wonderful work , this
spring. He has gotten off with two
no hit affrays. His fast ball is his best
asset. .However, he can mix 'em up to
a king's taste. Harry Moran of Wash
ington and Lee deserves mention but
his work this season hardly entitles
him to a place.
Give this outfit two week's work un
der Clancey and it would run over any
college team in the United States.
