The time of stress and terror,
of midnight oil and dopes, is
again drawing nigh. This does
not purport to be an essay on
those fearsome things called ex
aminations, but merely a reminder
. that sometime ago the 1 ower
classes, at least the junior class,
decided to elect their officers for
next year during the spring term.
And not much time is left in
which to do this.
It is unnecessary, to urg-e that
these elections be held now.
Every student knows the wisdom
of such action. The Students
Council, if needed at all, is needed
just at the opening of college, for
this is the time of greatest crisis
in the college year. Action right
away, however, is needed.
, Kansas has a greater per cent
of college , students than any
other state. It sends one student
out of every 112 to college.
Twenty-five per cent of the
students at the University of
Minnesota did not have a single
absence during the past term,
lasting from September through
February.
To secure a degree at Kansas
the student must be able to show
a certificate of proficiency in
swimming.
A holiday of several days has
been granted at Vanderbilt. This
is done every year immediately
after the winter term examinatins.
A series of scholarships for
graduates students from India
has been provided by the Univer
sity of California.
Instead of the usual caps and
gowns the graduates of the Agri
culture School of the University
of Minnesota will wear overal's
md slouch hats.

S. C. WINS TENNIS MATCH
The tennis meet with the Unr
versity of South Carolina, playec
on Thursday afternoon and Fri
day morning of Junior Week, re
sulted in a victory for the Pal
metto collegians, our team losing
the doubles and breaking even in
the singles.
The game of doubles was called
at 2:30 Thursday afternoon. The
University of South Carolina was
represented by Waring and Cary,
ana tne-.iar tieeis were repre
sented by Chambers and Oates
Our boys started off with a rush
and for the first two sets clearly
outclassed the Palmetto lads.
winning the first set 6 to 3 and
the second set 8 to 6. In the
third set our team made a num
ber of wild plays and seemed to
lose the vim that characterized
their playing at the outset of the
game. The South Carolinians
worked their opportunity effect
ively and for the remaining sets
held the winning hand. The
final score of the doubles was 3 to
2 in favor of South Carolina, thus
counting forty per cent toward a
victory of the meet.
The game of singles was called
at 10 o clock Brulay morning,
Oates playing Waring and Cham
bers tackling Cary. Chambers
was in good form and by hard
playing snatched two panics out
of three from his opponent. Un
til the third set the singles be
tween Oates and Waring was
hotly contested, seesawing to
nrst one and then the other.
However, in the fourth set Oates
began to weaken nd Waring
proceeded lo annex fnr games in
row, making four clean pass
