Litchfield started the fun in the first inning by a double t( left field. He was sacrificed to third and then scored on a sacri fice flv bv Loner. It was in the second inning- that Wake Forest scored. The game progressed amid the playing of the band, the wild cheering, and the toot ing of automobile horns until the ninth when a damper was put on the frenzied minds of the specta tors. Long drew a base on balls and stole second, going to third on a passed ball. Then Woodall pounded out his second hit, this time a double, and sewed up the game by scoring Long. Moore for Wake Forest pitched good Jjball while Whitley, his team mate, featured with a three bagger and scored on a wild pitch. BOX SCORE Wake Forest Trust, cf. Stringfield, .'tt. Daniels, e. Stolen bases, Trust 2, String field, Long. Umpire, Caddell. Carolina lost the game with the Durham Bulls Saturday and along with the defeat lost one of her most valuable players. In sliding to second in the seventh stanza, Patterson, our dependa ble first-baseman hurt a tendon in his left ankle and this injury will keep him out of the game proba bly for the remainder of the season. After the first inning was past the whole team worked well be hind the good pitching of Wil liams. Durham scored five runs in the first inning before Caro lina could settle down. After that the Bulls made only a few hits and two more runs. Carolina lone run happened in the second inning when Woodall led off with a double to left and was scored by Lewis' single to center. Wood all's playing was a feature, his pegging being accurate in pinch ing base-stealers, and he getting two of the registered five hits. The score: R. H. Noble lectured at ?;fand Tuesday, DRESSING ROOM GOSSIP Betsy, the debaters have came, the high track meelershave came too, and from the former we had our first tasto f spring, for Mattteo was sweetly represented From the latter number, ,; unfortu nately, no signs ul spring Wv re present except in the case of a few high jumpers The debaters were indeed a blessing. As we have sain once there were girls along; then, too so many of the professors were judges and were unable to attend their classes, a thing truly deplorable among the students, and possibly amon some of the faculty as well. Were you on the excursion train that started to Richmond last Thanksgiving? Well thats funny. If you were, there is a paper going about winch you ought to sign. It says: I give all that is by law or by right coming to me from the railroad to the Athletic Association. Look it up and sign it. You will never get (anything out of the railroad by a personal suit, bnt by a joint suit of the whole stu dent body, the Athletic Associa tion will move a little further toward the no-debt mark. Our good people of the city seem to be bestirring themselves toward getting a train, to come to Chapel Hill, instead of drag ging the little I-would't-eare-if-I-hadn't dinky to Carrboro. That thing that meets us at Univer sity is just like the last egg in the house after we've mixed everything else, when it turns out to be rotten. If vou are in favor of a railroad through Chap el Hill, say "Aye"; if not take nearest one to Mortranton. Percy is the one who has the distant look in his eye; the one who has experienced the sweet est thinjf in the world and real izes that everything else is get ting worse and worse; the one who sits in his room with a blank book before his eyes, and dreams of long- aaro. He's the one who las the germs of love in his leart, and after the freeze of winter, gentle spring comes and revives the srerms, and they tTect his heart with delirium re-women.
