FACULTY EXCEPTED. SCIENCE CLUB HOLDS MEETING AND ELECTION West Explains Bipod Transfusion- Miller and West Are Elected Club Officers for Next Quarter. The U. N. C. Science Club held one of its best meetings of the year in Da vie Hall last Thursday night. J. D. West, of the Medical department of the Uni versity, read a well prepared paper on "The Fusion of Blood," and.Jhe regular election of officers for the next term was held. In the beginning, Mr. West classified the blood into the four divisions of the cerum and cells. In order to have suc cessful fusion of blood, the blood of the patient and the one who is giving the blood must belong to the same eroup, both serum and cells. If the fusion takes place, the one to whom the blood is transferred will have a hiarh temperature for a short period, then the blood pressure will become nor mal, and the temperature will, likewise be normal. If the blood does not fuse, the patient will have a high temperature, and death will soon follow. The main principles, which Mr. West demonstrated very clearly, was to show how the fusion of blood can take place when the blood is transferred from one person to another andjthe conditions necessary for a successful fusion. The officers elected for next quarter are C. E. Miller, president; and J. D West, secretary. A committee was ap pointed to arrange the program for each meeting. Woman's Literary .
