This afternoon at 4:15 the Betas and S.A.E. will clash at Fetzer field to determine the fra ternity division winner and to find the opponent for Grimes in the campus championship final which will be staged tomorrow. Both teams enter the playoff after having completed the in tramural season without a de feat. S.A.E. has gone through a fairly easy schedule to reach their position while the Betas have been tested to the limit and have survived, going so far as to come back with only 35 sec onds to play in their game with Phi Delta Theta to push over a touchdown which took the game out of the fire. Veterans However, when the two teams take the field this afternoon past records will be thrown to the winds and neither team will take the field the favorite. S.A.E. has the advantage in experience in that a number of the men played on last year's campus champion ship squad. - In Charley Poe and Ross Allen, S.A.E. possesses one of the greatest intramural passing and receiving combinations, Poe having made the i v ; MS 'i'X m'"''J, 'i H fy&-&y l W m "grrtiniiiri"i'iif"r-MfM-Trr-Tiir'f,i rrrnii it .IMrt-Q-wat Carolina Frosh Primed To Upset Little Devils Frosh Invade Durham This Afternoon To Play Imps Skidmore Doleful Pictured above is Graham Gammon, Tar Heel harrier who will.be one of Carolina's repre sentatives in the 13th annual Southern conference meet to be run here tomorrow. Coach Skidmore is pessimistic about the outcome of the game in spite of the fact that all his backfield stars will be in uni form. He bemoans the fact that the members of his squad contii ually injure themselves off the field. Megson, a tackle who has only recently returned to prac tice, suffered an ankle injury while walking out to the field. Carlton, regular center, kept himself out of the important game by turning his ankle Thursday night. Politics have kept Taylor, first-string end, out of drills all week, and Claude Sapp, 150-pounder, will start inJ his place. Ralston, watch-fob center, will start the game at Carlton's position. Imp's Record Duke's big line will greatly outweigh the Tar Babies, but the backfields will be about even. Woody and McAfee, Imp line- smashers, are not expected to play, but the Carolina frosh are definitely the underdogs. Coach Herschel Caldwell's charges downed the powerful Quantico Marines in their last game by two touchdowns and boast wins over Davidson and Wake Forest. The only blotch on their record is a scoreless tie with N. C. State's freshmen who routed the Tar Babies 41-0. The game is always the most important of the year to both squads, and the opening whistle will begin a four-year rivalry between the players which will wind up in the Duke stadium in 1939. The first meeting of the boys always means a colorful scrap, as the feeling of rivalry existing between the varsities of the two schools is already rife among the yearlings.
