Dazzling new uniforms will
be paraded forth upon the foot
ball field when the Tar Heels
take up their 1937 football wars
in September. Coach Ray Wolf
has in his possession one of the
uniforms and yesterday George
Watson; star halfback, tried it
on for the benefit of observers.
Presenting the new
SHIRTS
Featured in the February
issue of Esquire
Similar to the uniforms of the
Detroit Lions professional team,
the pants will have a silver silk
front with a silver-knitr-rear.
The jerseys will be something
distinctly new as the school col
ors, Columbia blue and silver
white, are being used. The main
part of the jersey is Columbia
blue witp. six inch numbers on
the front and eight inch num
bers on the back. The numerals
are silver, outlined with dark
blue.
Helmets
The color of the helmet has
not been definitely decided. Un
der consideration are silver hel
mets, with a black Viking fronts-
piece, and a solid black helmet.
Additional sets of jerseys are
solid white with dark blue num
erals on front and back and
stripes on each arm, and solid,
dark blue jerseys with white
numerals.

cago is making the new Carolina
equipment.
Wolf Comments
Coach Wolf, in commenting
on the new uniforms, said, "Sev
eral different types of uniforms
have been under consideration.
We have selected this new com
bination for the reason that it
looks neat and that it works in
with the school colors, something
that previous uniforms have
failed to do."
Asked if the bright colors
were flashy, Coach Wolf replied,
Flashy, yes but not loud.
It was suggested that when
Carolina takes the field in Duke
stadium, this November that
there would be quite a clash of
flashing uniforms as well as
players. On this matter Coach
Wolf agreed.
As the interview was coming
to a close the suggestion that sil
ver colored shoes were the next
things on the list was made. The
answer was "No!"
Coach Wolf also vetoed the
idea of white shoestrings. "We
haven't quite gotten around to
that yet.
